Beyoncé endorses Kamala Harris while Donald Trump vows border crackdown in dueling Texas stops (Texas Tribune)
Hoping to tip the scales in the final days of a deadlocked race, Beyoncé threw her support behind Vice President Kamala Harris at a massive and star-studded rally here Friday night, telling the crowd that America is “at the precipice of an incredible shift, the brink of history” as she stressed the chance to elect the country’s first female president.
The influential recording artist and Houston native made her entrance to the 2024 campaign before a full house at Shell Energy Stadium, a venue in East Downtown with a capacity just north of 20,000. Before the backdrop of an enormous bright blue screen emblazoned with the message, “Vote for Reproductive Freedom,” Beyoncé embraced the rally’s main theme: drawing a contrast between Harris and former President Donald Trump on abortion… 🟪 (LINK TO FULL STORY)
Quinn Ewers throws for 3 TDs as No. 5 Texas beats No. 25 Vanderbilt 27-24 in 'culture' win (ESPN)
Texas coach Steve Sarkisian got to see his Longhorns, and quarterback Quinn Ewers, bounce back from a tough loss against Georgia last week.
Ewers shook off an early tipped pass for an interception to complete 17 straight passes on his way to 288 yards and three touchdowns Saturday, as the fifth-ranked Longhorns beat No. 25 Vanderbilt 27-24 in their Southeastern Conference road debut.
Sarkisian called this a “culture” and “toughness” win for his Longhorns.
“We knew it was going to take 60 minutes against this style of team and again, it’s always good to get a road win and like I said before, that was a good football team,” Sarkisian said of Vanderbilt. "They weren’t 25th in the country on accident.”… 🟪

Austin FC hired its second coach in the club’s short history when Friday it announced Nico Estévez as the successor to Josh Wolff.
The hire came less than a week after the Verde & Black ended their MLS season and on the same day the first round of the MLS playoffs start.
