Texas leaves Baylor with a bang: Longhorns stifle Bears for 38-6 win (Austin American-Statesman)

The Texas Longhorns know they draw a crowd on the road. But that doesn't mean they want people to stick around for the entire show.

No calls for any encores, please. In fact, right tackle Christian Jones shared Saturday night that for away games, there is "an emphasis on going out there from the jump and trying to empty their stands out."

The Longhorns did just that at McLane Stadium. Baylor announced a sold-out crowd of 49,165, but there were plenty of empty seats to be found during the third quarter. Fans wearing burnt orange, though, were able to stick around to see their team open Big 12 play with a 38-6 victory… (LINK TO FULL STORY)

Timeline, priorities emerge for next shot at HealthSouth redevelopment (Austin Business Journal)

As they consider how the vacant former HealthSouth complex might be transformed, leaders at Austin City Hall are establishing priorities for the downtown site and looking to a federal tax credit program for help.

Austin City Council on Sept. 21 approved a plan to develop the property in phases, subdividing the site to include a structure strictly dedicated to affordable housing that could be partially financed with federal low-income housing tax credits. Those allow developers to offset a portion of their federal taxes in exchange for the production or preservation of affordable rental housing.

The Development Services Department is holding a virtual stakeholder meeting on Thursday, Sept. 28 from 10-11:30 a.m. on HB 14 and HB 3699 and their impact on the development process. Staff will explain changes made to Title 25 and Title 30 of the Land Development Code, and you will have an opportunity to ask questions about process changes.
